Friendship – May this bonding last eternity

Friendship Day celebrations occur on different dates in different countries. The first World Friendship Day was proposed for 30 July 1958. On 27 April 2011 the General Assembly of the United Nations declared 30 July as official International Friendship Day. However, some countries, including India, celebrate Friendship Day on the first Sunday of August. In Oberlin, Ohio, Friendship Day is celebrated on 8 April each year. It’s one of the most popular events of the world especially to the youth community who want to dedicate this complete day to their most special friends by sharing friendship day quotes.

Friendship Day was originally promoted by Joyce Hall, the founder of Hallmark cards in 1930.

On this Friendship day, I try am trying to share with you one story which I have heard long back when I was kid from my grandfather who used to tell me stories of moral values.

The Story

Two friends were walking through the desert. During some point of the journey they had an argument, and one friend slapped the other one in the face.

The one who got slapped was hurt, but without saying anything, wrote in the sand “Today my best friend slapped me in the face”.

They kept on walking until they found an oasis, where they decided to take a bath. The one who had been slapped got stuck in the mire and started drowning, but the friend saved him. After he recovered from the near drowning, he wrote on a stone “Today my best friend saved my life”.

The friend who had slapped and saved his best friend asked him, “After I hurt you, you wrote in the sand and now, you write on a stone, why?” The other friend replied “When someone hurts us we should write it down in sand where winds of forgiveness can erase it away. But, when someone does something good for us, we must engrave it in stone where no wind can ever erase it.”

 

This story help me to maintain friendship with any one in this universe , I am fortunate that I have not loose any friendship in life as all pain given by friends has been written on sand which has been erase by wind of forgiveness and all helped done by my friends has been written on stone which has been engrave in such a way that no wind can ever erase it.  Be it school friends , College friends , Professional friends or be it girlfriends  each friendship in my life has a story and am thankful to God for giving me Friends and pray to God to last this bonding for eternity.
